Welcome to the team. This page covers everything you need in your first two weeks — accounts, expectations, and where to find people.
Tip. If anything in this handbook feels stale, edit it. That's how it stays useful.

The Notework model
No “anything can be anything” puzzle. Write in Pages, organize in Projects, and track repeatable work in Collections.
Specs, handbooks, meeting notes, product docs, and decisions — with comments, version history, and real page structure.

Ship small. Show your work. Read other people's code more than you write your own.
Note. Start typing. Formatting is there when you need it.
Group work by product, team, client, or initiative. Keep it open to the whole workspace, or private to the people involved on Team.
↳ A project sidebar.

A spec can sit beside the issues it creates. Each issue opens as a full page. Decisions, comments, owners, and files stay with the work.
Write the spec in a Page.
Link the Collection that tracks delivery.
Open an issue as a full page.
Assign an owner, priority, and due date.
Close the issue without losing the discussion behind it.

Useful AI
Notework uses AI for specific jobs where it genuinely saves work—not as another layer you have to manage.
CSV import chokes on quoted commas — third report this week.
We should fix this before launch. Can someone own it?

Ask about your workspace
Use Notework's MCP server to let compatible AI assistants search and understand the work already stored in Notework.
You can ignore every one of these features and keep using Notework normally.

Hybrid search reads meaning as well as keywords, across Pages, Collection entries, comments, and attachment names.
How search worksCreate, edit, comment, and track work from native iOS and Android apps, with a wider two-pane layout on tablets.
Open Projects for shared work, private Projects for the people involved, and per-person access levels on Team.
How permissions workImport from Notion, CSV, and Markdown. Export Pages as Markdown, HTML, or PDF, Collections as CSV, and a whole Project as a ZIP.
Importing from NotionComing from Notion?
Keep the familiar pieces — pages, structured data, nested content. Add a clearer workspace model, built-in project tracking, and AI that waits for your approval.
When a workspace gets messy
Any page can become anything, so teams invent their own rules.
What Notework makes explicit
Pages are for writing, Projects are homes, and Collections track structured work.
When a workspace gets messy
Specs and issues drift into separate tools.
What Notework makes explicit
A Collection entry is still a full Page, so context stays with delivery.
When a workspace gets messy
Navigation reflects years of local workarounds.
What Notework makes explicit
Every item belongs to a Project; top-level structure stays finite and understandable.
When a workspace gets messy
AI appears throughout the interface whether the team wants it or not.
What Notework makes explicit
AI is used for specific workflows and requires confirmation before it creates work.
When a workspace gets messy
Switching feels like a second implementation project.
What Notework makes explicit
Import Notion exports, review the result, and keep working.
Same flexibility. Clearer rules.
However you want to start
Upload a Notion export, map databases to Collections, and review what came across before anything is final.
Pick a ready-made workspace with real pages, collections, and views already set up. Change what you need and delete the rest.
